DESCRIPTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT:

The redevelopment project of the Cloister of the Civic Museum of Bassano del Grappa is conceived as a strategic intervention aimed at enhancing one of the most representative places of the city.

An ancient and evocative site, among the most iconic in Bassano del Grappa, the cloister of the Civic Museum is a space of great historical and cultural significance. Founded in the 14th century, it stands as an environment suspended between past and present, where valuable architectural elements coexist with a particularly balanced natural dimension.

Over time, the cloister has become a vibrant and dynamic place, capable of welcoming culture and people: an open-air museum, a stage for events and performances, a meeting space and, at the same time, a silent guardian of the historical memory of Bassano del Grappa.

The proposed intervention aims to strengthen the role of the Cloister as a cultural hub and a place of gathering for the community, restoring its full centrality in the life of Bassano del Grappa.

From this perspective, the project is oriented toward an overall improvement in accessibility, so that every visitor can experience the space in an inclusive and meaningful way. The goal is to expand its range of uses, further encouraging dialogue between the site and the community, and making it more functional for hosting the many cultural and performance activities for which it provides an evocative setting. At the same time, the redevelopment seeks to enhance the historical and artistic heritage preserved within the Cloister, highlighting its identity and making it more accessible to a broad and diverse audience.

As a whole, the redevelopment thus represents a new milestone in a long-term process of renewal and modernization of the Museo Civico, one of the oldest and most important in the Veneto region, and a longstanding beating heart of the city of Bassano and a key reference point for the initiatives that enliven the cultural life of the foothill area.
