THE RETURN OF ANTONIO CANOVA’S "COLOSSAL HORSE" TO THE MUSEO CIVICO OF BASSANO DEL GRAPPA
Following its extensive restoration and the great success it enjoyed in the prestigious setting of the Gallerie d’Italia in Milan – where the work was the centrepiece of the exhibition Eterno e visione. Roma e Milano capitali del Neoclassicismo – Antonio Canova’s Colossal Horse will take its permanent place on the main floor of the Civic Museum from 12 December 2026.

The permanent collection on the main floor of the Museo Civico will be further enriched by the display of the majestic plaster model which, almost sixty years after being dismantled, will be returned to the public in all its spectacular entirety.

The return of this unique artwork represents an important milestone in the nomination of Bassano del Grappa as Italian Capital of Culture 2029.
