Free solo, on Saturday 16 May 2026 at 2 pm and 4:30 pm, the Museo Civico of Bassano del Grappa will host a new event promoting visual creativity and illustration: Landscape. The Journey of Forms. 

This special two-hour workshop is designed and led by Riccardo Guasco, an internationally renowned illustrator known for his unmistakable style. In the same way that Olivetti’s historic and extraordinary approach to graphics translated design values into shapes, colours and compositions that speak to everyone, this workshop invites participants to discover the power of visual synthesis by transforming a landscape into pure geometry, balance and colour.

The masterclass, aimed at students and those interested in illustration, graphic design and visual arts, is an original course that explores the visual synthesis of the advertising poster using analogue or digital collage techniques: graphic design enthusiasts who bring a tablet or another digital device to the event will be able to complete the masterclass digitally. Participants will be invited to deconstruct and reconstruct a landscape using geometric shapes, flat colours and dynamic compositions. This practical and engaging experience will help participants view the world as a collection of volumes, interlocking elements and colour fields.

First there will be an introduction to Guasco’s experience and an analysis of the poster as a visual synthesis tool. Historical examples of these will be used to explore ways to transform a landscape into pure geometric forms. Following this, participants will create a design, a pencil sketch of their own compositional structure, focusing their creativity on either a narrative poster or an abstract landscape. The workshop will conclude with an hour devoted entirely to collage: selecting papers, cutting or tearing, layered composition, and managing solids and voids.

Landscape. The Journey of Forms will be held in the Sala Chilesotti of the Museo Civico of Bassano del Grappa at a cost of €18 per person. This includes admission to the Musei Civici and the current temporary exhibitions, Olivetti. The Art of Communication and Riccardo Guasco. Free solo. The activity can only be purchased online via the link, for a maximum of 25 participants per time slot.
