SEBASTIÃO SALGADO.
COLLECTION OF
THE MAISON EUROPÉENNE
DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE, PARIS
After the retrospectives dedicated to Ruth Orkin, Dorothea Lange and Brassaï the great photography will once again take center stage in Bassano del Grappa.

From October 24, 2026 to April 4, 2027, the Museo Civico of Bassano del Grappa pays tribute to another artist whose “gaze” has made history in this art form, effectively changing the way we see the world: Sebastião Salgado. Collection of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris.

Curated by Pascal Hoël, Head of the MEP Collections, the exhibition is promoted and organized by the Municipality and Musei Civici of Bassano del Grappa together with Silvana Editoriale, and is produced in collaboration with the MEP – Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, which conceived the project.

This exhibition is the first in Italy to retrace, through a selection of more than 160 photographs, the work of the great photographer who, for twenty-five years, confronted the chaos of the world, later revealing its primordial beauty. A leading figure who, one year after his passing, remains immortal.

The exhibition is made possible thanks to the significant donation that Sebastião and Lélia Wanick Salgado made to the MEP – Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris, which now holds the complete body of his work and bears witness to forty years of close and heartfelt collaboration.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue with the same title in Italian and English.
